Meclofenamic acid is a prototypical nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory agent (NSAIA) that also exhibits analgesic and antipyretic activity.

Meclofenamate sodium is used for anti-inflammatory and analgesic effects in the symptomatic treatment of rheumatoid arthritis and osteoarthritis, for the relief of mild to moderate pain, for the symptomatic relief of primary dysmenorrhea, and for the management of idiopathic menorrhagia. The potential benefits and risks of meclofenamate sodium therapy as well as alternative therapies should be considered prior to initiating meclofenamate sodium therapy. The lowest possible effective dosage and shortest duration of therapy consistent with treatment goals of the patient should be employed.
