Cisplatin
General-Increased risk for adverse effects (e.g. renal, neuro, myelosuppression, infection). Renal-Increased susceptibility to nephrotoxicity; may consider reduced dose. Contraindicated with pre-existing renal impairment. Neuro/Psych-Increased risk of peripheral neuropathy in elderly. Endocrine-May exacerbate or cause hyponatremia; monitor sodium level closely when starting or changing dosages. Rare risk of SIADH.

- Cisplatin may cause severe kidney problems, nerve problems, and severe nausea and vomiting. Nerve problems may occur during treatment or weeks after stopping treatment. Your risk of these problems increases with higher doses or longer treatment with cisplatin.<br /><br />Tell your doctor right way if you develop any of the following symptoms: change in the amount of urine, numbness/tingling of arms/legs, loss of reflexes, loss of balance, trouble walking, nausea, or vomiting. This medication decreases bone marrow function, an effect that may lead to a low number of blood cells such as red cells, white cells, and platelets. This effect can cause anemia, decrease your body's ability to fight an infection, or cause easy bruising/bleeding. Tell your doctor right away if you develop any of the following symptoms: unusual tiredness, pale skin, easy bruising/bleeding, or signs of infection (such as sore throat that doesn't go away, fever, chills).
