Neuro/Psych-Inc risk of tardive dyskinesia. CNS eff: sedation, cognitive impair, and inc fall risk. Avoid use for behav prob of dementia or delirium unless failed nonpharm options. Inc risk of stroke, cognit decline, and death when used w/dementia. Max 2mg/day. Endocrine-May exacerbate or cause SIADH or hyponatremia. Cardiovascular-May cause orthostatic hypotension. Gastrointestinal-May cause or worsen pre-existing constipation. Genitourinary-Avoid in pts w/urinary retention.
