Gastrointestinal- Major bleeding risk increases markedly in older age. Avoid initiating aspirin for primary prevention of cardiovascular disease. Consider deprescribing aspirin in older adults already taking for primary prevention. Aspirin is indicated for secondary prevention in older adults with established cardiovascular disease.
